Genetic ancestry testing companies like 23andMe and AncestryDNA, provide genotyping data, which only covers a small portion of your genome. They may not contain all the SNPs/genetic markers present in our database. Whole-genome data, on the other hand, covers your entire genome and all the genetic markers. Whole-genome data is always preferable if that is an option; if not, AncestryDNA data or any other genotyping data can be used.
