Gene: AMD1
Alternate names for this Gene: ADOMETDC|AMD|SAMDC
Gene Summary: This gene encodes an important intermediate enzyme in polyamine biosynthesis. The polyamines spermine, spermidine, and putrescine are low-molecular-weight aliphatic amines essential for cellular proliferation and tumor promotion. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosomes 5, 6, 10, X and Y.
Gene is located in Chromosome: 6
Location in Chromosome : 6q21
Description of this Gene: adenosylmethionine decarboxylase 1
Type of Gene: protein-coding
Gene: CDK19
Alternate names for this Gene: CDC2L6|CDK11|DEE87|EIEE87|bA346C16.3
Gene Summary: This gene encodes a protein that is one of the components of the Mediator co-activator complex. The Mediator complex is a multi-protein complex required for transcriptional activation by DNA binding transcription factors of genes transcribed by RNA polymerase II. The protein encoded by this gene is similar to cyclin-dependent kinase 8 which can also be a component of the Mediator complex. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
