Gene: EPDR1

Alternate names for this Gene: EPDR|MERP-1|MERP1|UCC1

Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is a type II transmembrane protein that is similar to two families of cell adhesion molecules, the protocadherins and ependymins. This protein may play a role in calcium-dependent cell adhesion. This protein is glycosylated, and the orthologous mouse protein is localized to the lysosome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 8.

Gene is located in Chromosome: 7

Location in Chromosome : 7p14.1

Description of this Gene: ependymin related 1

Type of Gene: protein-coding

Gene: NME8

Alternate names for this Gene: CILD6|HEL-S-99|NM23-H8|SPTRX2|TXNDC3|sptrx-2

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a protein with an N-terminal thioredoxin domain and three C-terminal nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDK) domains, but the NDK domains are thought to be catalytically inactive. The sea urchin ortholog of this gene encodes a component of sperm outer dynein arms, and the protein is implicated in ciliary function. Mutations in this gene are implicated in primary ciliary dyskinesia type 6.

Gene is located in Chromosome: 7
