Gene: ICAM1

Alternate names for this Gene: BB2|CD54|P3.58

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a cell surface glycoprotein which is typically expressed on endothelial cells and cells of the immune system. It binds to integrins of type CD11a / CD18, or CD11b / CD18 and is also exploited by Rhinovirus as a receptor.

Gene is located in Chromosome: 19

Location in Chromosome : 19p13.2

Description of this Gene: intercellular adhesion molecule 1

Type of Gene: protein-coding

Gene: ICAM4

Alternate names for this Gene: CD242|LW

Gene Summary: This gene encodes the Landsteiner-Wiener (LW) blood group antigen(s) that belongs to the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily, and that shares similarity with the intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) protein family. This ICAM protein contains 2 Ig-like C2-type domains and binds to the leukocyte adhesion LFA-1 protein. The molecular basis of the LW(A)/LW(B) blood group antigens is a single aa variation at position 100; Gln-100=LW(A) and Arg-100=LW(B). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.

Gene is located in Chromosome: 19

Location in Chromosome : 19p13.2

Description of this Gene: intercellular adhesion molecule 4 (Landsteiner-Wiener blood group)

Type of Gene: protein-coding
