Gene: SYMPK
Alternate names for this Gene: SPK|SYM
Gene Summary: This gene encodes a nuclear protein that functions in the regulation of polyadenylation and promotes gene expression. The protein forms a high-molecular weight complex with components of the polyadenylation machinery. It is thought to serve as a scaffold for recruiting regulatory factors to the polyadenylation complex. It also participates in 3'-end maturation of histone mRNAs, which do not undergo polyadenylation. The protein also localizes to the cytoplasmic plaques of tight junctions in some cell types.
Gene is located in Chromosome: 19
Location in Chromosome : 19q13.32
Description of this Gene: symplekin
Type of Gene: protein-coding
Gene: FOXA3
Alternate names for this Gene: FKHH3|HNF3G|TCF3G
Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the forkhead class of DNA-binding proteins. These hepatocyte nuclear factors are transcriptional activators for liver-specific transcripts such as albumin and transthyretin, and they also interact with chromatin. Similar family members in mice have roles in the regulation of metabolism and in the differentiation of the pancreas and liver. The crystal structure of a similar protein in rat has been resolved.
