Gene: TNPO1
Alternate names for this Gene: IPO2|KPNB2|MIP|MIP1|TRN
Gene Summary: This gene encodes the beta subunit of the karyopherin receptor complex which interacts with nuclear localization signals to target nuclear proteins to the nucleus. The karyopherin receptor complex is a heterodimer of an alpha subunit which recognizes the nuclear localization signal and a beta subunit which docks the complex at nucleoporins. Alternate splicing of this gene results in several transcript variants encoding different proteins.
Gene is located in Chromosome: 5
Location in Chromosome : 5q13.2
Description of this Gene: transportin 1
Type of Gene: protein-coding
